Streams of the Subclass 407 Visa

There are three streams under the Subclass 407 visa:

Occupational Training to Improve Skills

  • Designed for individuals who are undergoing structured training programs to enhance their skills in an eligible occupation. This stream focuses on improving skills that are essential for career development.

Occupational Training for Capacity Building Overseas

  • This stream is for individuals from overseas organisations or government agencies who are coming to Australia for workplace training to assist with capacity building in their home country. This often includes people involved in development projects or foreign government training initiatives.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the Subclass 407 visa, applicants must meet specific requirements, including:

    Sponsorship by an Approved Organisation:

    Applicants must be sponsored by an approved Australian business, government agency, or a training institution. The sponsor must nominate the individual for the training program and provide details about the training arrangement.

    Training Plan:

    The training must be part of a structured plan that enhances skills and knowledge. The plan must clearly outline the objectives of the training, the specific skills to be developed, and how the training will be delivered.

    English Language Proficiency:

To be eligible for permanent residency through the Subclass 191 Visa, 494 visa holders must:

Sponsorship: The sponsoring organisation must apply for approval as a Temporary Activities Sponsor if they are not already approved. This involves demonstrating the business's commitment to training and compliance with immigration laws and providing evidence that business is lawfully operating in Australia.

Nomination: The sponsor must nominate the individual for the training program. The nomination primarily includes the details of the role, location, training plan, and the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Application: The applicant must demonstrate functional English, be a genuine temporary entrant, having adequate means to support themselves amongst other requirements.
